Innovations in curricula and educational methods – urban design and planning

All cities are connected by their complexity of relationships between different components – history,
the memory of a place, but also social processes, economic, transport, to the ecology of a place. In
each specific context, however, these components are projected into a different space and create
a unique interplay. How can we translate this uniqueness into spaces that we are not familiar with?
On spaces that are always – changing? And can we take away from Slovakia the qualities of places
outside our context? What tools can we use to address these themes?
Ana Llopis Alvarez from the University Stavanger, as a part of course of Urban typology 1, led a
workshop with FAD students on the topic of quality of the living environment, using interactive
methods linking universities in Bratislava and in Stavanger.
